Sunrise

What a great song...by Norah Jones that is! I just decided to do something rather unusual for me. Something I feel like I should do more often. Usually at this time I am doing one of my daily chores or working out/running or...just plain ol' running around like a chicken with my head cut off doing odds n' ends. But not today!

My husband had to work today, so it's just the kids and I. We started out a little rocky...children who don't sleep well do not oblige well. Furthermore they are down right cranky! So as we set off for our typical Saturday morning outing to the Farmers Market things could not have been more stressful. Runny noses, crabby banter, disobedient children, and a hungry baby all caused this usually fairly smooth process to take much, MUCH too long. So then, sequentially, all following events were approached with less patience. Unfortunately some yelling was done, some time outs were had, and it was NOT enjoyable. However, much to my surprise, they listened quite well at the larger than normal market. They were rewarded with some juice and muffins in the co-op coffee shop and then it hit me! WHAT am I going to do with myself until my better half joins us later this afternoon?

10:30am...hmm is it too early to grace the McDonald's play place, only to purchase a soda and play there for, well, however long it takes to tire them? YES! It was a bit chilly for the babe...so outdoor fun wasn't the best idea. It really is not fun nursing outdoors in 40 degree weather! Downright difficult actually! Then it rang! My mom was calling from about 10 feet away, asking if we wanted to join her at the "farm" for some outdoor fun with the "bigs." ABSOLUTELY! SO off we went, enjoyed ourselves, ate cookies, and came home.

This is when I thought naptime would be a breeze! Not.So.Much. I have decided that tired out children are either black or white. Meaning things can either go heavenly or...well you know the latter. Today the latter won.

It was an hour before Sylvi ended her ranting in her crib...which in turn caused Lilly to exit her napping area multiple times, which in turn caused Finn to yell a time or two and the little angel Pearl just slept through it all.

So no workout today, just sitting here enjoying what the sunrise brought this morning. Thankfully it has stuck around long enough for me to enjoy it this afternoon. Some blogging, some catching up on an article or two (there is one on homeschooling I have been dying to read) and feeling the warmth of the sun in my favorite chair. Starting my Christmas lists, thinking ahead to wonderful Thanksgiving.

That's it!

infant support pillow

Alicia is wife, mother, and creator of Baby Elephant Ears. Baby Elephant Ears was created out of parental concern, not financial desire. In 2005, when their second child was an infant, he cried all the time and just couldn't seem to get comfortable.

After seeking advice and suggestion from the medical community and alternative medicine, they eventually ended up in the chiropractors office where their baby was successfully treated for a subluxation, discomfort most likely the result of the strain during labor, which was now being exacerbated by the normal lack of infant neck strength. Only proper neck, head, and back alignment would offer him relief. When they couldn't find a product to give their baby the necessary support, Alicia took matters into her own hands and crafted her own infant support pillow. The first Baby Elephant Ears was born!
