Shortcuts For Easy Chores Around the House

shortcuts for easy choresMoms and dads are already busy enough during the course of a single day that when it comes time for chores, they rarely have it in them to get these tasks finished. Luckily, there are usually shortcuts to many of these chores that you’ve never even thought of before. We found some great shortcuts to save you time and make for easy chores around your home:

Dusting

Try dusting lampshades and other delicate objects with a lint roller. It works quickly and effectively to get rid of dust without the hassle of a vacuum or cleaning products. It also allows you to breeze through the dusting process without worrying about damaging your furniture.

Microwave

Cleaning out the microwave is usually an annoying task due to the old, caked –on food that gets stuck inside of it. If you fill up a glass of water and bring it to a boil in the microwave however, the steam will loosen up dried food. This shortcut will make cleaning the microwave easier than ever before.

Windows/Mirrors

When it comes time to clean the mirrors, windows, and other similar objects in your house, try using newspaper or other recyclable paper. In doing so, you’re saving yourself the hassle of having to do an extra load of laundry once the cleaning is finished, and you’re also recycling in the process!

Toilet

Before you start cleaning the bathroom, put toilet cleaner around the inside of the bowl to soak. This will allow the dirt and stains to soak while you’re busy cleaning other areas, and will save you time when it’s time for the toilet. Better yet, you can buy a dispenser for the inside of your toilet that will automatically do most of the cleaning for you!

Refrigerator

If you have a fridge that hasn’t been cleaned out in a while, try dedicating one week to doing so. That week, you can spend just a few minutes each day throwing out old food as you navigate to get various items that you actually need. Also, baking soda is a great product to use for cleaning the inside of the fridge, while also eliminating the odor.

Oven

If your oven is long overdue for a good cleaning, wait for a night where your family gets take-out or goes out to a restaurant for dinner. That night, spray the inside with oven cleaner. Allowing it a full day to soak inside the oven will make tough messes so much easier to clean up the next day.

infant support pillowWritten by Alicia Overby - Founder & President of Baby Elephant Ears

Alicia is wife, mother, and creator of Baby Elephant Ears. Baby Elephant Ears was created out of parental concern, not financial desire. In 2005, when their second child was an infant, he cried all the time and just couldn't seem to get comfortable.

After seeking advice and suggestion from the medical community and alternative medicine, they eventually ended up in the chiropractors office where their baby was successfully treated for asubluxation, discomfort most likely the result of the strain during labor, which was now being exacerbated by the normal lack of infant neck strength. Only proper neck, head, and back alignment would offer him relief. When they couldn't find a product to give their baby the necessary support, Alicia took matters into her own hands and crafted her own infant support pillow. The first Baby Elephant Ears was born!
