How to Raise Smarter Kids
10th Mar 2015
Helping your child reach their intellectual potential simply
takes some involved, caring parenting. The early years in your child’s life are
so crucial due to the fact that their brains are developing at such a rapid
rate. If you want your kid to reach their full potential, it’s important to
take the time out of your day to help them grow and learn. Here are some ways
to raise a smarter child:
Learning Style
Before getting started on trying to help your children develop intellectually, it’s best to figure out their learning style. Auditory learners can absorb information best by hearing instructions, physical learners enjoy using their hands and other senses to figure things out, and visual learners focus best by observing and watching. Figure out which method works best for your child and use this to your advantage.
Encourage Reading
Encourage your child to read or read a book to them to raise a smarter kid. Reading promotes better language and comprehension skills, longer attention spans, and very active imaginations. Reading is necessary more and more as you grow up, so getting your child into reading as early as possible is a great idea.
Foreign Language
A great way to enhance the learning process of your child is teaching them a foreign language. Children who begin learning a foreign language will communicate better, develop valuable problem-solving skills, and are less likely to get frustrated in other aspects of life. Having another language under their belt will undoubtedly help them later in life as well. This is an extremely beneficial tool to try with your little one.
Art of Choice
Raising a smarter child is also a possibility if you can get your child into a particular art form of their choice. Whether it’s drawing, painting, crafting, or another creative activity, these practices will certainly enhance their development. Children who practice art in some form have shown to do better academically, are able to retain information better, and have more confidence in their abilities.
Eating Right
Teaching your child about the value of a healthy diet, and helping them get into a habit of one, is great for their development. Make sure your child understands the importance of healthy eating habits including, eating a hearty breakfast each morning, getting the proper nutrition from good food, and avoiding the snacks that are loaded with sugar and fat. Studies have even shown that children who eat breakfast perform better in attention and memory tests!

Alicia is wife, mother, and creator of Baby Elephant Ears. Baby Elephant Ears was created out of parental concern, not financial desire. In 2005, when their second child was an infant, he cried all the time and just couldn't seem to get comfortable.
After seeking advice and suggestion from the medical community and alternative medicine, they eventually ended up in the chiropractors office where their baby was successfully treated for asubluxation, discomfort most likely the result of the strain during labor, which was now being exacerbated by the normal lack of infant neck strength. Only proper neck, head, and back alignment would offer him relief. When they couldn't find a product to give their baby the necessary support, Alicia took matters into her own hands and crafted her own infant support pillow. The first Baby Elephant Ears was born!
