Adorable Nursery Décor Inspiration

27th Jan 2015

Preparing for baby to arrive is one of the most exciting things you will experience. Exciting, nerve-wracking and long, I may add. There are so many things mom and dad have to do to get ready for baby. One of the tasks on your long to-do list is decorate the nursery.

Loving to decorate myself, this was one of my favorite things to do for my baby. You get to put your love into making their very own space. It’s so special! If you don’t know the sex of your baby yet, be sure to stick to gender neutral colors. If you do know the sex, go to town making their room in the appropriate shades! There are so many different avenues you can take when decorating baby’s room, sometimes it can be overwhelming trying to choose! Here are four adorable nursery décor ideas to inspire you.

1. Birth Date Posters

I really wish I saw this when my kids were born. It’s such a clever idea! I think this would look best either above the crib, or above their changing table/diaper station. It’s a great way for you to put their stamp on the room and really make it their own. Plus, it’s a great memoir to have for when they are older.

2. Accent Colors

I really love when there is one central color in the room that is accented by another color. So for example, if you have a boy you can paint the walls a light green. Then, choose another color (I like grey and navy) and accent those colors throughout the room. The crib could be grey, the bedding navy, and throw pillows navy and so on. It’s a great way to tie the whole room together.

3. Incorporate Animals

I really love when a nursery has lots of animals in it. For some reason animals just scream baby’s room! You could incorporate animals into your baby’s room a couple of different ways, either by placing stuffed animals around the room, by hanging animal pictures in strategic places, or by having a wall mural of animals. Any way you choose will be adorable!

4. Find a Quote

I’m a big fan of quote pictures. I currently have a few in my own home floating around! Find a quote about baby, parenting, or life. Once you’ve found the perfect quote you can figure out where you want it to go. I think painting a quote behind the crib is really adorable, but there are also many other ways you can incorporate a quote into baby’s room.

infant support pillowWritten by Alicia Overby - Founder & President of Baby Elephant Ears

Alicia is wife, mother, and creator of Baby Elephant Ears. Baby Elephant Ears was created out of parental concern, not financial desire. In 2005, when their second child was an infant, he cried all the time and just couldn't seem to get comfortable.

After seeking advice and suggestion from the medical community and alternative medicine, they eventually ended up in the chiropractors office where their baby was successfully treated for asubluxation, discomfort most likely the result of the strain during labor, which was now being exacerbated by the normal lack of infant neck strength. Only proper neck, head, and back alignment would offer him relief. When they couldn't find a product to give their baby the necessary support, Alicia took matters into her own hands and crafted her own infant support pillow. The first Baby Elephant Ears was born!
