6 Stroller Exercises for Moms
4th May 2015
When you’re a busy
mom who’s trying to handle your daily job and duties, along with taking care of
your child, it’s tough to fit in time for exercise. One solution however, is to
do both at the same time! Next time the little one wants to go for a walk, throw
on your favorite pair of sneakers, strap your child in, and try some of these
great stroller exercises for mom:
1. Interval Jogging
Interval jogging with your stroller in front is a great start to your exercise routine. Try jogging for thirty seconds at a time, followed up by thirty seconds of walking. The jogging on its own is a great workout, but the weight of the stroller in front of you makes this exercise even better.
2. Lunges
Adding lunges to your morning walk with your baby is a great way to incorporate a great exercise with your stroll. These lunges can be performed the same way you would do a traditional walking lunge, but keep your hands on the handlebar of the stroller while you go. This will allow you to continue with your lunges while pushing the stroller forward in front of you.
3. Squat
Performing squats are a great way to exercise your lower body and core muscles. Luckily for moms on the go, squats can also be used while walking your child in a stroller. Every couple yards, grasp the stroller’s handlebar and perform this move as you would any normal squat.
4. Leg Lifts
Incorporating leg lifts into your walk is a very easy and quick way to gain that extra fitness you’re looking for. Every few steps, simply lift your leg up either laterally or behind you. These lifts are great to strengthen your thigh and hamstring muscles.
5. Crunches
When you’re ready for a break from the walk, find a good spot where you can put down a yoga mat, or something comfortable to sit on. Position the stroller to face you as you do crunches and sit-ups so that you and your baby can see each other throughout the exercise. This can even turn into an impromptu game of peek-a-boo!
6. Tip Toe
One of the easiest ways to work out your calves while walking with the stroller is to tip toe for large portions of it. As you walk along through your regular trail, tip-toeing along the way will flex your calf muscles and strengthen them a lot more than a typical stroll would.

Alicia is wife, mother, and creator of Baby Elephant Ears. Baby Elephant Ears was created out of parental concern, not financial desire. In 2005, when their second child was an infant, he cried all the time and just couldn't seem to get comfortable.
After seeking advice and suggestion from the medical community and alternative medicine, they eventually ended up in the chiropractors office where their baby was successfully treated for asubluxation, discomfort most likely the result of the strain during labor, which was now being exacerbated by the normal lack of infant neck strength. Only proper neck, head, and back alignment would offer him relief. When they couldn't find a product to give their baby the necessary support, Alicia took matters into her own hands and crafted her own infant support pillow. The first Baby Elephant Ears was born!
