Fun Winter Activities for the FamilyThe winter season may be right around the corner, but this doesn’t mean the family has to bunker down inside the house! If you can brave the cold weather, there are tons of fun family activities to try during the winter. As long as you have the warm clothes and hot cocoa ready for when you get home, here are some awesome winter family activities to try:

1. Skiing/Snowboarding

While this activity may take more skill than simply sledding down a hill, the payoff is certainly a lot more rewarding. Downhill and cross-country skiing is a family favorite during the winter months. This can become an even more involved family activity for those who are trying to learn how to ski/snowboard for the first time. Taking lessons as a family is sure to be a great bonding experience.

2. Ice-Skating

Similar to skiing and snowboarding, ice-skating may require a bit of a learning curve to perform with the family. Once you and your children get the hang of keeping your balance on skates, the feeling is almost addicting! Being able to glide around the ice like you’ve never done before is an experience like no other.

3. Build a Snowman

You know your kids love seeing the first snowfall because of the snowmen they are now able to build! Bundle up in some warm winter clothes and take to the front yard with your children to help them build a snowman for the house. For added fun, try using food coloring, old clothes, and various food items to decorate the snowman accordingly.

4. Sledding

Sledding is a timeless winter activity that brings you fun like no other! The best part is, all you need is something to put underneath you to slide down the snow-covered hill. Since sledding is fun to all ages, this makes for a perfect family activity once the first big snowstorm hits your area.

5. Build an Igloo/Fort

Building an igloo or snow fort is an upgraded version of building a snowman. While this snow structure will require a lot more time and effort, the end result is so much better. In addition to the bonding experience you will receive as a family during the building process, it will also serve as a great exercise activity. Once finished, you and the family can huddle up inside the igloo and enjoy some hot cocoa and a holiday story!

Alicia is wife, mother, and creator of Baby Elephant Ears. Baby Elephant Ears was created out of parental concern, not financial desire. In 2005, when their second child was an infant, he cried all the time and just couldn't seem to get comfortable.

After seeking advice and suggestion from the medical community and alternative medicine, they eventually ended up in the chiropractors office where their baby was successfully treated for asubluxation, discomfort most likely the result of the strain during labor, which was now being exacerbated by the normal lack of infant neck strength. Only proper neck, head, and back alignment would offer him relief. When they couldn't find a product to give their baby the necessary support, Alicia took matters into her own hands and crafted her own infant support pillow. The first Baby Elephant Ears was born!
